A Resource Guide for Belonging-Builders

“Around the world, people are seeking effective ways to build just, equitable, and inclusive institutions that can serve everyone without fueling fragmentation, division, and fear.”

This is how the Othering & Belonging Institute (OBI) at UC Berkley, begins their invitation for Belonging-Builders to use a newly published resource that they say provides “frameworks that go beyond mere inclusion into existing structures. Instead, advocating for the cocreation of new structures, identities, and stories that are designed for everyone.”

The Othering & Belonging Institute’s definition of belonging includes four mutually-reinforcing components, as reflected in the image below.
