Removal of Data Prompts Call to Action

On February 1, the Association of Public Data Users (APDU) issued a statement condemning the removal of access to taxpayer funded public data from the public domain as “unethical and contrary to the principle that these data are for the public and public good.”

The Association warns that removing this public data “sets a dangerous precedent that any administration could withhold public data for any reason” and is working to document the impact of the removal of that data. If your organization depends on the datasets that were removed for informed decision-making, the APDU asks that you share that impact with them at info@apdu.org.

APDU also urges you to call your Congressional representatives to share any concerns you may have about the removal of public datasets.
