Congress will be busy on Tuesday.
Members of the US House will consider (among other things) $880 billion in cuts to Medicaid and CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program).
On the agenda is H. Con. Res. 14 – Establishing the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034. (Sponsored by Rep. Arrington / Budget Committee)
The Center for American Progress provides the following estimates on the impact to the Dan River Region’s Congressional districts:
VA-05 John McGuire – $2.03 billion reduction in funding, 51,000 individuals losing coverage
NC-13 Brad Knott – $1.71 billion reduction in funding, 49,000 individuals losing coverage
KFF reports that Medicaid accounts for $1 of every $5 in federal healthcare spending. They provide a detailed look at Medicaid HERE.
